A recent report by German news media, Haledsblatt, indicates that Coinbase has signed a partnership agreement with Borussia Dortmund (BVB). The financial terms of this agreement are yet to be revealed. However, the deal will last until the end of June, with a possibility of renewal.
BVB will advertise Coinbase in their platform as part of the deal
The news channel revealed that the partnership began in July 2022 but was only announced recently. Coinbase, a cryptocurrency exchange platform, is already offering crypto training to BVB employees as part of the partnership.
BvB will advertise the crypto firm on its digital platform. With its massive fan base, the crypto firm will benefit from activations on digital channels and social media. BVB will also promote the crypto firm on its cam carpets and perimeter signal in Dortmund signal IDUNA Park.
Fans will have a sweepstakes contest in February and March to win VIP tickets for home matches. The winners will also be able to witness the game between Dortmund and Union Berlin in April.
BVB managing director’s remarks on the partnership
In his speech, the BVB managing director Carsten Cramer said that the crypto economy is an exciting new opportunity that people should exploit.
“The granting of the license by ‘BaFin’ is the clear signal for us as BVB to now have such a partner at our side in a segment that is still very new and often confusing for non-insiders. Therefore, we are delighted about expanding our partnership with the crypto firm as the reliable, secure, and standards-compliant global platform for crypto trading.” he emphasized.
In his speech, the crypto firm vice president and regional managing director reiterated that they were delighted to be part of the German market. The company looks forward to having a good partnership with BVB as they are both committed to innovation, responsibility, and trust.
The Crypto firm received its license from the federal financial supervisory authority (BaFin) to operate in Germany in 2021.
The Crypto firm’s strategic partnership
The partnership came when Borussia Dortmund had already shown interest in the Web3 platform. BVB is currently working with several companies in technology to create Web3 use cases for its fans. Partnership with BVB will enable the crypto firm to penetrate the German market and enter the sports industry. BVB is one of the biggest teams in Germany. The team plays in the Bundesliga and has won numerous titles, including one UEFA championship, eight league championships, and five DFB pokal.
